Having been a resident of Stoke for 8 years as a child, and everyone at school being intolerable Stoke fans, and being told by my dad how he wouldn't go and watch City away games at the nearby Victoria Ground because their fans were hooligans (this was the mid 80s), I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Vale.
