Some interesting transfers beginning to happen ...

Henderson to Liverpool for £20m! - he looks like he might be a good player, but after a good first season he seemed to struggle last year. May well improve playing with better players around him and if he goes on to be the central figure in Liverpool's midfield over the next ten years then it will look like a good bit of business - but right now - it's a big risk and just when we are being told that prices will have to fall to comply UEFA's financial fair play (which Liverpool will expect to have to comply with) it sets a high bar for the future. Also makes Johnson for £7m and even Milner for £18m plus Steve Ireland look like a good deals.

Phil Jones to United for £17m smiley - disappointed in this one, he looks a very good player, good positional awareness, strong tackler and various reports suggest he is a nice lad (mind you Giggs was supposed to be a quiet faithful family man). But again, he has only played 30 something Premier League games - it's a lot of money for what at this point is just potential. Compare with £6m for Kompany!

With the squad rules, young English trained players are always going to move for a premium, and these two won't even register in the squads for another couple of years but it's a lot of money beginning to be throw around.

and Martinez to Villa, looks like a good move for both of them. He wants his team to play a prettier style of football than Wigan can manage, Villa get a manager still on the rise who should be able to improve on last season. Wigan will no doubt look to blood another young manager from the Championship whilst taking a decent compensation from Villa.
